FAMILY EVENTS

It’s important for families to spend time together in a Christian environment, having fun, and getting to know others. Family oriented events take place regularly at Olmsted Community Church, which include the entire faith family–so whether you’re a family of one or ten, there’s a place for you here.  Activities include such things as a movie or game night, bowling, or pot-luck suppers.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION

Sunday Morning – 9:00 to 9:50 AM – Wilson Room
Adults discuss the focus Scripture for the day from the Revised Common Lectionary readings.
Tuesday Afternoon – 1:00 to 2:00 PM

Semi-Annual A.R.T. Retreat
An A.R.T. Retreat is held each April and October. The Artistic Expression, Reflection, Time with God Retreat is an ecumenical group of people who gather to create, fellowship, study and pray together.
Short-term Studies

SUNDAY MORNING CHILDREN & YOUTH PROGRAMMING – 10 AM

Children and youth go with their families to worship and are excused after the “Time for Children” portion of the service.

First Steps in Faith (Four-year-old and younger)
This class is staffed by loving adults who want to make each child’s first church experience a positive and happy one. Children play and learn to share God’s love. There is a brief time of hearing God’s stories and free-play time. Infants are also welcome, as are their parents. The worship service is piped into the First Steps room and in the Quiet Room on the upper level. The First Steps classroom is on the lower level near the Sanctuary, in the hallway accessed through the Tower Room. Ushers or church members can direct you.

Rainbow Kids (Kindergartener & 1st Graders)
These non-readers or early readers meet in room #8 for Bible stories. These multi-week units and activities (from 2-4 weeks) draw from 8 different learning disciplines: Art, Computer, Cookery, Games, Music, Science, Story and Video.

Sunshine Gang (2nd – 5th Graders)
Using the same format as the Rainbow Kids, the students also have multi-week studies and experience a different station each of the 2-3 weeks using the same eight focal areas.

Pre-Confirmation (6th & 7th Graders)
As a part of the Confirmation process, 6th and 7th graders receive their own Bible to study from and write in. This class prepares them for the Confirmation class by spending time learning about the Bible and faith issues.

CONFIRMATION STUDIES
Confirmation classes are open to any youth in 8th – 12th grades. The class is led by the Pastor and Faith Formation Director who guide the students through the essence of Christian beliefs and practices. The students pair up with adult Faith Partners for mission and outreach projects, and field trips to other faith communities. For class schedule, please contact our Director of Faith Formation, Nicki Behr.
