Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week, that 7-day period that leads us to Easter’s joy. Palm Sunday commemorates the final entry of Jesus and his disciples into the city of Jerusalem where he celebrated the Jewish Passover, spent time in prayer, was betrayed by a friend. By the end of that fateful week, he was charged with crimes and beaten before being sentenced to death by crucifixion.
But it all started on his arrival in the beautiful city, riding on a colt as people gathered and waved palm branches to welcome him.
Our Palm Sunday celebration begins on Sunday, April 13 with worship at 10 a.m. Palm leaves are provided for everyone, and children will process in the sanctuary before departing for Sunday School.
After Sunday’s worship, the children (with help from their elders) will host a special coffee hour “Holy Week Brunch” with goodies and events for the whole family.
