Spring 2018 A.R.T Retreat
A “Tree of Life” Creatively Grows in You!
Please join us on Saturday, March 17 for our spring retreat where we will be focusing on God’s amazing gift of life through Trees.
One of our theme scriptures is Psalm 1:3 ”S/he is like a tree planted beside streams of water that bears fruit in its season and whose leaf does not wither.” We will reflect on the diversity of trees and the many ways they benefit our lives and maintain the health of God’s green earth. Being mindful of everything we have and use that is made from wood and paper, nourish us with fruits and nuts, and create habitats for many of God’s creatures great & small. We are able to tell the life of Jesus through the focus of trees: manger, stable, carpenter, fishing boats, fig tree, Temple made with oaks & cedars, yoke, the cross and the Tree of Life.
“Then all the Trees of the forest will shout for Joy, before the Lord” Ps 96:12
Throughout the day, we will be using a variety of paper products in creative endeavors and artistic expressions. From paper tubes recycled into a cross or rose window, colorful paper beads strung into beautiful necklaces to discovering the life giving attributes of trees while writing prayerful poetry. We will also be reflecting on both the symbolism and the natural properties of trees and the importance of healthy woods and forests for our overall well being and our grateful enjoyment.
We will also be sharing in fellowship on this St. Patrick’s Day, enjoying a delicious lunch with a ‘green theme’ and spend time in quiet reflection, including another opportunity to walk the prayer labyrinth, as well as celebrating our time together! “And all the trees of the field will clap their hands!” Is 55:12
